A 22-year-old woman is admitted at Rubaga hospital after she was allegedly raped by a 32-year-old fellow resident of Kigobe in Namungoona on the outskirts of Kampala.

The woman, who is currently admitted at Rubaga was, according to her testimony, returning to her residence before she accosted the assailant whom she managed to identify as Charles Kigoye, a builder residing in Luyinja Zone, Namungoona.

She narrates that it was around midnight as she was coming from Entebbe where she had escorted her boyfriend. She boarded a bodaboda (motor bike) that dropped her at Luyinja, a trading centre near her locality.

As she slopped to her home on foot, she was grabbed by the goon who violently threw her on ground before committing the crime.

In the scuffle that ensued lasting for about half an hour, the victim realized that Kigoye, a fellow resident at Namungoona was the one raping her.

Kigoye gagged the victim’s mouth preventing her from raising alarm and later took off, according to her narrative.

She later reported the matter at the nearby Namungoona police post.

The accused was at day break arrested and charged of rape. According to Namungoona DPC who apprehended Kigoye, the assailant is to be produced before Nabweru court and higher jurisdiction courts and if found guilty, he faces a jail term not below seven years or more.
