Singer Mowzey Radio of the Goodlyfe Crew has said that not only is it fitting for the dynamic duo to be nominated as the Best International Act; Africa 2013 in the upcoming BET Awards, but deserve to win the Award too.

In a brief interview with the mellow-voiced singer, he said that they have worked very hard to be where they are today and winning the award will be their goal.

“Five years ago nobody, including our fellow artistes, would think that we would achieve this! However we left our music to do the talking and here we are; we deserve this award because we have worked hard. We are confident that we shall bring it home,” said Mowzey.

The duo of Radio and Weasel will battle with 2Face Idibia from Nigeria, Toya Delazy from South Africa, Ice Prince from Nigeria, Donald from South Africa and R2Bees from Ghana.

The event will take place in Los Angeles, California between June 28-30 and music critics believe that our boys are better positioned to grab the award because they have more hits smashing the airwaves than their competitors.

“They have about four hot singles which are gracing the airwaves across Africa; their competitors hardly have hits crossing borders. I think they are positioned to bring the award home,” said Producer Washington, who has produced most of the duo’s music over the years.

No Ugandan artiste has ever been nominated for such an award and that in itself is an achievement for the boys who recently launched their album ‘Obudde’ at Hotel Africana where they got a mammoth crowd.

Radio and Weasel broke away from singer Jose Chameleone’s Leone Island in early 2008 and have gotten better with time to become one of the best artistes we know today.

Interestingly Chameleone, who can rightly be regarded as their mentor, has congratulated the duo saying “they were good students.”

He posted this on his Facebook wall; “The triumph of a son is the Pride of the father; On that note, I join the rest of the music fraternity to congratulate Radio & Weasel on their BET nomination….You learnt from the best and you learnt well. I pray you win it for Uganda. Good luck.” We wish you the best of luck boys.
