Acts of hooliganism could undermine the Uganda Premier League.

On Tuesday, the match between Sadolin Paints and SC Villa was abandoned in the 80th minute after the home team’s fans hurled stones onto the pitch.

The ugly act unfolded after Karim Ndugwa scored the second goal for visiting Villa at Bugembe Stadium in Jinja. Fred Ssegujja put the hosts ahead in the 4th minute before Erisa Ssekisambu equalised for Villa shortly before the break.

Police fired tear gas to disperse the fans before the match was called off.

Last Friday, Police used the same approach after the home team’s fans tried to attack centre referee Frank Jjingo during the game between hosts BUL and Vipers.
