INTER-continental title Home boy Ronald Mugula has assured fans of another exciting encounter as he fights Romanian champion Elek Janos for the vacant Super Pro Inter-continental title at the Kyadondo Rugby grounds today.

The 67kg ‘hard-bodied’ athlete Mugula was earlier scheduled to defend his WKF Inter-continental title against Thailand’s Valdet Gashi but according to the International supervisor Roseman Eatvan, Gashi was ruled out on medical grounds and Janos was the only immediate replacement.

“After we realized that Gashi was not fine health-wise, we gave the fight to Janos, who was the immediate match on our WKF lists,” Roseman explained.

The 6.5ft Mugula recently beat Hungarian Andras Nagy to restore pride in the sport that had faded with Moses Golola’s humiliating defeat to Hungarian Mate Zsamboki.

“There will be no fourth round to be played because I expect to knock him out in the third round so fans should come early or they stand to miss the action,” Mugula explained.

His opponent Janos weighs 66.5kg and is 5.8ft tall. He has a record of 45 wins and 10 knockouts from 65 fights.

“I am not here to learn but to win,” Janos said in his mother tongue before WKF supervisor Roseman translated for the packed press briefing at Mt Zion Hotel yesterday.
