The victim, who was discharged from hospital, said she was returning from her grandmother's place, accompanied by a female friend when the gang attacked them before descending on her.

"They were five and raped me in turns as others whipped us. I later escaped and tried to run away but they chased me and cut my foot using a panga," she narrated.

Battling streams of tears, the victim said she identified two of the assailants, one of whom was Moses Kaluya, a resident of the neighboring Bukagenha village, who was arrested and is under detention in Kamuli Police Station.

The the other suspects are on the run.

The acting district Police commander, Muhammed Nsubuga condemned the act and urged the community to identify such drug addicts and counsel them to avoid such lawless acts.
