Willy Kitata’s good run of form continued over the weekend when he returned 153 gross to win the Kinyara open in Masindi.

The handicap +2 Entebbe golfer beat off a strong challenge from Jinja’s Ismail Mahmood to win by a stroke over two days of action.

Peter Ssendawula (157 gross) and Ronnie Bukenya (159 gross) were second and third respectively while Vincent Byamukama took the biggest share of sh4m that was up for grabs by the professionals over one round played on Sunday.

Kitata’s consistency saw him finish second behind Kenya’s Nelson Simwa during the Entebbe Open last week.

“I should have played better but the greens were not good but I managed to defend my title,” Kitata who is winning the annual union event for the fourth time in a row said.

Christopher Arinaitwe (136 nett), Kennedy Kissarach (151 nett) and Henry Rubaale (146 nett) won the respective men’s groups A-C with Simon Onadra (144), Samuel Ntume (152) and Collins Ivan (149) finishing as runners up in the respective groups.

Prudence Nimukama and Prossy Zawedde were the top ladies in the two-day event that attracted over 60 golfers.
