New Sports Club Villa president Immanuel Misagga has promised to ensure the club can challenge top African clubs administratively, technically and financially within his first term in office.

Misagga assumed the Villa presidency unopposed at Ivys Hotel in Kampala on Saturday and revealed that he would invest personal money in different projects to make Villa self-sustaining.

Hours after Misagga was elected together with his deputy president Dennis Mbidde, vice presidents Mohammed Bazirengedde (administration), Meddy Nsereko (general duties) and five other executive members, he showed rare signs of football management in Uganda.

“Each one of you (executives) has targets to meet. Mbidde has 90 days for the club to get 100 branches across the country,” Misagga later announced as Villa fans cheered.

In a bid to provide formidable business plans, Misagga has flown in renown sports commentator now sports marketing consultant Zambian Ponga Liwewe with whom the club met on how to go about his plans for the club.

Misagga has already hired Polly Ouma as Villa’s first technical director and is due to advertise for the posts of chief executive officer and spokesperson at Villa Park.

He said that his dream is to ensure that Villa marches the likes of Asante Kotoko in Ghana, TP Mazembe in DRC and Nkana Red Devils of Zambia which always have hefty bank balances to recruit and invest elsewhere.

As Misagga spoke to fans, who dined, wined at an after party at Villa Park, he promised to raise the club standards by improving welfare of players, technical and administrative staff.

“Football is business and we need to make it self-sustaining. Ours is football at Villa and I will fall out with any of my fellow executive members, who will indulge in politicking instead of delivering for the club,” Misagga said.

The club coach Stephen Bogere, Ouma and some players, who were among the fans, were also in celebratory mood when Misagga announced that all of them must be driving soon courtesy of the club.
