Uganda''s chess team bagged two more victories at the 40th World Chess Olympiad in Istanbul, Turkey on Thursday.

Uganda's chess team bagged two more victories at the 40th World Chess Olympiad in Istanbul, Turkey on Thursday.

The ladies team whipped Fiji 4-0 to register their first victory after two straight defeats.

Meanwhile, Uganda men's team got their second win with a 2.5-1.5 success over Cyprus.

In the ladies category, Grace Kigeni, Ivy Amoko, Goretti Angolikin and the team's youngest player Phiona Mutesi beat Fiji's FM Lyons Kieran, Gloria Sukhu, Hilda Vukikomoola and Cydel Teruben.

And in the men's event, Harold Wanyama beat Stelios Lazaris while CM Patrick Kawuma outwitted Meles Renes. Bob Bibasa, the most experienced player on team and playing his first game, drew with CM Antoniou Antonis.

At the same time, Elijah Emojong suffered his first defeat, going down to Pavlos Constantinou.
