Peace
How did you meet Jackson?
We met in our church.

What attracted you to him?
His light-skin complexion was inviting. However, what really swept me off was how he approached me. He was my long-time friend and did not at any time suggest to me to sleep with him before marriage. He respected me as a Born-again Christian who respects my faith.

Is he the only man you have fallen in love with?
By the time he became my friend, I had a boyfriend whom I loved so much. I had expected him to marry me.  In fact, when Jackson proposed, I declined. However, he waited patiently until I accepted his proposal.

Meaning you disappointed your ex?
I don’t believe I disappointed him. He left and cut communication. I don’t believe there was a reason for him to do that. He took my love for granted. Besides, whenever I prayed to God to show me a good husband, Jackson would appear in my dreams. In fact, one day, I dreamt that we were married.

Did your ex ever return to Mbarara?
He came back to Mbarara and found me married. He tried to woo me back, but I could not look back since I already had a husband.

Do men ever try to hit on you?
Yes they do. Someone told me to stop moving with my husband, saying I was not the first to have a husband. But that cannot deter me.

What challenges have you experienced in music?
Many people advertise concerts and tell lies that I will be among the guest performers, when I am not aware. It tarnishes my name.

What do you love about being a gospel artiste?
Singing has given me a chance to praise my Lord. I have also earned from singing. Before, I used to operate a mobile salon, but I have graduated from that. I now own houses in Mbarara, I have a shop on Garage Street in Mbarara, dealing in stationery and electronics. I have also bought a car. I was invited to state house, where I spent two days. It earned me an opportunity to shake hands with President Yoweri Museveni and the First Lady.
What was your experience in state house?
It was wonderful. Everything was being done for me by servants. I gave the President two CDs, one was the album of Rukundo Egumeho and another had my message to the first family.

What drives your marriage?
Being open with each other and expressing love always. We share in our successes and failures because we are one.

Jackson
When did you see her for the first time and what attracted you?
I first saw her at All Saints Church, Nakasero. She was short, attractive and seemed God-fearing.

What is special about short women?
All my uncles married short ladies. They told me short ladies take long to grow old physically. So, when I saw Peace, I knew I had landed a jackpot and that my parents would appreciate my choice.

How did you approach her?
I first took my time to study her, before expressing my interest. When I proposed to her, she did not welcome the idea at first, saying she was already engaged to someone else and they were expecting to get married. I stuck to my guns and eventually won her heart.

Was she your first girlfriend?
She was not. I had had girlfriends before, but things had not worked out for us.

If given chance, what would you change about Peace?
Nothing. I like everything about her. She is my angel.

Is there anything wrong with her?
She is a short-tempered person and very quarrelsome.

What would you do if you found her cheating?
I would forgive her because we always live with temptation. I would not love to have children from different mothers, yet if I parted ways with her over cheating, I would be forced to marry someone else.

Artistes rarely have stable relationships. Why?
During courtship, many people mask their character. It is only when they get married that their true colours emerge. It is even worse with gospel artistes. Many men may approach them for love, saying they are Born-again, even when they are not. When the ladies discover that they were duped, they may seek divorce.

Any special gift you have ever given her for loving you?
I took her back to school. She had stopped in Primary Seven, but now, she is in Senior Three. I organise private lessons for her. She could not speak English, but now, things have changed. She has learnt the language and has even composed two songs in English.
