February is the month of love as we celebrate romance and the excitement that comes with it. For some people though, the second month of the year is just as dreary as January what with paying huge amounts of school fees and generally enduring empty pockets.

The only day that seems to bring us some relief is the 14th, aka Valentine’s Day. However, I think that we can choose to celebrate love throughout the month in spite of personal finance issues. Here is how to do it…

 Fashion
alt=''Lingerie: There is something feminine, sensual and alluring about beautiful undergarments. It somehow reminds you that you are a woman.

Treat yourself to some seriously sexy but comfortable lingerie. Go for lace, satin, silk for underwear and artistic detail and luxurious fabrics for night wear.

Allow chiffon to whisper sweet nothings to your body as you go about your business. I can assure you that this love affair will lift your mood, self-esteem and keep you smiling all day.

In the evening, after a bath or shower, slip into a pretty robe as you unwind and get ready for bed. By the way sister, you do not have to be married to enjoy lovely intimate apparel. Even single girls are entitled to the beauty and luxury that life has got to offer.

For more information on lingerie, check out the Valentine’s Day Special in the current Flair Magazine, which is on sale now.

There are eight pages of seductive underwear, as well as tips on how to feel good naked and the love food you need to celebrate in a big way. Also, find out the five questions women are afraid to ask about sex and get sorted out before Valentine’s Day.

Colour: Psychologists will have us believe that colour communicates. That is why it is important to add some colourful apparel to your February wardrobe. This year orange is said to be the most fashionable.

This is a colour that comes and goes from fashion trends; it was very much in vogue in the 1920s, 1960s and 1980s and is now back. You cannot help but be cheerful when wearing orange as it brings out the sweetness in you while conveyingalt='' confidence.

Being such a bright colour, it can be overwhelming for the faint-hearted. If this is the case with you, just use it to accessorise your outfit in the form of an orange bag, scarf or shoes.

Jewellery: What you want is a classic piece like the cuff. Known for being a statement maker, the cuff has been worn by women of style since 1400BC. It is better worn with a simple sleeveless dress or short sleeved shirt.

In other words, it has to make a statement and cannot be hidden under ruffles and long    sleeves.

Beauty
Something new: Re-invent yourself. This can be achieved by refreshing your make-up, trying a new hairstyle, joining a gym or social club, taking up dancing or cooking lessons or anything else that tickles your fancy.
The idea behind re-invention is to avoid boredom, depression and stagnation.

Skin care: With the heat and dust, you need to pay more attention to your beauty regimen. Do not go to bed without cleansing, toning and moisturising your face and neck.

Also, remember to moisturise your hands just before retiring for the night. This will keep your hands soft and supple.alt=''
It is important to wear sunscreen because the sun is so hot. It is a myth that African skin cannot be damaged by the sun.

Soul food
Enjoy your own company: Some people are so afraid to be by themselves that they even flee from their own shadow. Spending time alone is not a bad thing at all.

Listen to the inner you, reconnect with your spirit and soul and identify the music you want to dance to. Alone time or ‘me time’ allows you to watch a movie alone, read a book or listen to your favourite music.

It is a journey to self-discovery and has nothing to do with loneliness.

Last but not least, do something that makes you happy and avoid stressing about the minimum balance in your bank account or the fact that your kids might have to do without cornflakes for a while. If you change your attitude, February can be the best month of your life yet.
