Dan Ssemata, who scored 22 points by getting 1ABB in history, economics and divinity, said losing his father in 2005 inspired him to work hard.

He said when his father died, his mother, Regina Nakate, was left to fend for 15 children.

Ssemata said his mother, a timber seller at Katwe, has worked tireless to ensure that he continues with his education.

‘I believe I would have done better but I am not disappointed with my results. I want to do international business at university to become a notable business man in Uganda,” he said.

Ssemata thanked his mathematics teacher who always ensured that he was never sent back home for not paying school fees on time.

He also commended his elder brother, Godfrey Ssaazi, a Kampala lawyer, wfor provided him with scholastic materials.
