JINJA - The Government Chief Whip, Daudi Migereko, has urged the newly-elected NRM leaders to embark on preaching the NRM gospel to attract more members to the party. Addressing a crowd shortly after the elections at Busoga Square on Monday, Migereko said the opposition was consolidating its membership and called for hard work from party members to outwit them. He was elected district party treasurer.

Couple loses donation

KAMULI - The parents of a child born with a nose-like swelling between her eyes suffered another blow after sh350,000 was stolen from them at Mulago Hospital. Fred Kasadha and Betty Nabirye of Nakyaka-Bulongo zone had solicited the money from sympathisers after The New Vision ran a story of their plight last week. They were seeking financial assistance to have their child, Naume Kawudha, operated upon. Kasadha said they discovered the money was missing when they needed to pay for a scan.

Pokot rustlers destroy crops

MOROTO - Over 100 suspected Pokot warriors have destroyed an elderly woman’s two acres of maize and sorghum gardens in Nadunget sub-county. Asumpta Napuwa’s crops were destroyed when the warriors turned their anger on them after a foiled raid. The area LC2 chairperson, Peter Erobobo, said the warriors harvested the crops, destroying what they could not carry.
