As Miss Universe, Navarrete won list of prizes including an undisclosed salary, a New York luxury apartment — all expenses paid, jewelry, clothes and shoes for her role as the pageant winner.

She also got a scholarship for one year to the New York Film Academy in addition to housing once her.
Standing at 5-8 foot, 22-year-old Navarrete is typical Miss Universe winner. She won the overall swimsuit competition and the evening gown competition.

Although Mexico is hardly known for its dominance in the world renowned competitions, Jemena turned tables around and beat 15 other contestants including Jamaica’s Yendi Philips, who was 1st runner- up and Jesinta Campbell of Australia the 2nd runner-up.

Navarrete impressed the Miss Universe judging panel when Evan Lysacek asked the contestant what her opinion of parents allowing children unsupervised Internet use is.

She answered through an interpreter: “I do believe that Internet is an indispensable, necessary tool for the present time. We must be sure to teach them the values that we learned as a family.”
