FROM floral patterns to nice looking curvy metallic bars, accentuated roofing and the look and style of the entire home is what many pay attention to.

It is all about beautifully maximising space. The wind of the quest for beauty has evolved from casements to sliding windows. Windows are the ‘eyes’ of the home. They bring in light, create spaciousness, provide ventilation, and give you access to a view of the outdoors.

Sliding windows are ideal for home owners who appreciate an unobstructed view of the outdoors, according to Henry Tinda a dealer in slide windows in Kitintale.

“They are available in a myriad of configurations and with numerous options so that you can achieve precisely the look you want for your home,” he says.

Tinda says slide windows move on top and bottom tracks and are a little more expensive than casement ones which are hinged vertically to swing in and out.

“By smoothly and quietly sliding, the hi-sash overcomes both roughness and noise on outdated window systems, wood and aluminum, with modernised design. It is resistant to twisting and bending. This means it maintains the styled shape against shrinkage and expansion from extreme climate change,” he explains.

Since they do not swing out, the fear of being knocked by a window pane does not arise, making the house safe, especially for children. Tonny Kwesiga, an interior designer says, sliders are tightly sealed for energy efficiency and great for hard-to-reach places such as over sinks and appliances in the kitchen.

Casements crank open, as opposed to sliding up and down, making them easier to manoeuvre. Kwesiga says the home feels more comfortable and looks more beautiful when slide windows are installed because they are a result of expert design, exceptional attention to detail, advanced technology and the finest materials.

“Sliders offer a practical choice for people who prefer horizontally operating windows which open and close smoothly. The sash can be easily lifted out for quick and simple cleaning,” he says.

Kwesiga says casements and louvers are out of fashion. Instead, people are now in for sliding glass windows which have a high visual appeal that gives the client a better and beautiful view, while keeping heat and cold out.

He also notes that sliding windows are stronger and look more beautiful. These windows are also in different nice tints that are attractive, with better designs of burglar proofing.
