THE Government is to tarmac the Mubende-Kakumiro road. According to internal affairs state minister Matia Kasaija, President Yoweri Museveni instructed the Uganda National Roads Authority to include the road in its plans.

Kasaija said this was in fulfillment of a pledge Museveni made when he visited Kibaale district in June.

“We have already submitted the President’s plans to the concerned ministry for consideration and soon road designing will start,” he said.

Speaking to New Vision on Monday, Kasaija said the 120km road is impassable, especially after heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the works ministry has released sh992m for the reconstruction of the 42km Kagadi-Kibaale road.

George Namyaka, the Kibaale district LC5 chairman, said the road authority has already contracted MM Construction Company to work on the road.
