Where was Miss Uganda 2009?
Aren’t we used to an outgoing beauty queen handing over her crown to her successor?
Well, that never happened at Miss Uganda 2010 at Imperial Royale Hotel last Saturday.

The outgoing Miss Uganda, Maria Namiiro, was not invited. Snoops have discovered that when Namiiro asked why she was not being updated about the occasion, the organisers replied her through email that they had nothing of relevance to tell her. They promised to keep her updated and said the date (September 25) date was subject to change.
That was the last she heard from the organisers. Namiiro did not attend the event, yet she was in Kampala

Does Nansubuga really qualify?
Forget the surprise announcement of Heyzme Nansubuga as winner instead of the judges’ favourite, Aisha Nagudi.
The newly-crowned Miss Uganda 2009/10 is actually legally unacceptable. According to the strict Miss World terms of reference, from which Miss Uganda draws its legitimacy, the age limit is 24. Nansubuga is 25! How then will Miss Uganda 2010/11 participate in Miss World?

The 20 minute silence
During the pageant, something unthinkable happened. The music and public address system went off suddenly for 20 minutes. We have since heard that Elvis Sekyanzi, the owner of Silk Events, who organised the event, ordered his workers to switch off the machines until his payment was cleared.

Snoops saw Joyce Church, the organiser, and Silk Events officials in what appeared to be a negotiation. First son ‘grand’ entrance

There was excitement when Lt. Col. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, President Museveni’s son arrived at the venue. However, he disappeared soon after. We later learnt that St. Mary’s College Kisubi had organised a re-union at the same hotel which Muhoozi had gone to attend.
