PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has fulfilled his pledge of an ambulance to Aliwang health centre III in Otuke district to ease the transportation of patients.

Museveni also gave sh300m for the construction of a library, installing a solar panel and drilling of a borehole at Adwari Secondary School.

Aliwang health workers lauded Museveni, saying the ambulance would relieve them of the burden of transporting patients referred to other hospitals.

“We appreciate the President for the offer because sometimes we get stuck with referral cases due to lack of transport,” said Marina Angom, a nursing assistance at the unit.
Some patients, she added, return home on failing to raise transport money after referrals.

Angom also called upon the Government, through the Ministry of Health, to supply HIV and tuberculosis drugs.

“It will be of great help if the Government started giving us drugs because at the moment we are referring cases to Orum health centre and Lira Hospital,” she added.
