EDITOR: On November 19, it was reported that ethics and integrity minister James Nsaba Buturo, upon hearsay, had threaten Lake Victoria Serena Hotel if it supported the conference about prostitution, among whom the participants are sex workers from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

The irony is that in the same paper, it was reported that new HIV infections in Uganda are statistically standing at 360 people per day!

What Nsaba Buturo forgets is that without educating ourselves about sex workers, the nature and safety of their work, fighting HIV/AIDS will remain an uphill task because that means the Government will not pay attention to such a population and they will have no access to healthcare.

But they live in the society like everybody else. How will that control infection? Nsaba Buturo should have invited himself to the conference without judgment and prejudice. That way he would have got better ideas how to approach the problem.
