SC Villa v Buikwe
ALEX Isabirye will be wishing to exorcise last season’s demons when he spearheads SC Villa’s offensive line against Buikwe in today’s Nile Special Super League encounter.
The 2001 footballer of the year, who lived in the shadows last season and only rose to the occasion towards the end of the league, is expected to be instrumental at Namboole.
An injury, which rocked him throughout last season and lack of acclimatisation to playing for a giant club from SCOUL, down-played Isabirye’s role as joint top-scorer in the 2001 CECAFA senior challenge cup.
“It is good he is acclimatising. He is gaining his top form and will be a player to watch this season,” said coach Micho Sredojevich of the player who has always come from the bench and struck in the past two encounters.
He will be required to use that fast pace and reaction to dribble through Buikwe’s defence to keep Villa on a winning streak after their three outings.
But Sredojevich looks at Buikwe as another stumbling block.
“A club that beat Game Boys at home is a good team and we expect a good match,” said Sredojevich
Buikwe’s Ismail Ssenyonga will be out to increase his tally and also break through Villa’s youngster defence, which is yet to concede any goal.
The composed player, who rarely loses a ball has scored all Buikwe’s four goals.
Buikwe coach Richard Makumbi says that though most of his players are new in the league, they will put up a good game.
“Most of my players are new and they still lack the skills to play properly in the league but I think they will try to put up a good show.”
