KAMPALA City Council (KCC) is to widen Makerere Hill Road to create separate lanes for motorists heading to Nakulabye and Makerere University to reduce traffic congestion in the area, reports Catherine Ntabadde.
Makerere Hill Road, which stretches from Wandegeya junction to Kasubi, will be widened under the five year Kampala Urban Traffic Improvement Plan (KUTIP).
KUTIP, to be implemented by KCC’s Nakivubo Channel Rehabilitation Programme (NCRP), was designed to re-organise roads, widen and upgrade them to reduce traffic congestion in the city.
NCRP’s project coordinator, Tamale Kiggundu, on Tuesday told The New Vision that though the Wandegeya roundabout was improved, traffic towards Makerere University and Nakulabye was too heavy especially in the morning and evening hours. Ends
