MEMBERS of Parliament on the finance committee have opposed the proposed sale of the National Medical Stores, Mandela National Stadium, Namboole and Uganda Seeds Ltd.
The committee under the chairmanship of Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu (Sheema South), was yesterday considering the Public Enterprises Reform and Divestiture (Amendment) statutory instrument from the Ministry of Finance.
The instrument seeks to allow the finance minister to amend the first schedule of the Statute allowing the privatisation of the three enterprises under class II where the Government will retain majority shareholding.
Nathan Nandala Mafabi (Budadiri West) said, “There is no need privatising more enterprises without telling Ugandans where the proceeds are going.”
