There was commotion in Kasijjagirwa armoured brigade in Masaka town when a soldier attached to the Presidential Protection Unit was shot for allegedly sleeping with a fellow soldier's wife.
Eddie Ssejjoba reports that Private Karim Baguma, 24, died in Kitovu hospital where he was rushed by fellow soldiers after he was shot in the back.
Winessses said on return from Gulu on Saturday night, ‘spies’ told Lt. Odeke that a soldier had been having sex with his wife in his (Odeke’s) house.
Army spokesman Maj. Shaban Bantariza said Baguma got to Odeke’s house at about 4:00am and knocked at the door.
Quoting reports from the barracks, Bantariza said, “The husband came out wearing a skirt and opened the door in the dark, but the deceased just entered mistaking him for his lover,” Bantariza said.
He said the PPU man attempted to escape but another soldier, an Intelligence officer from Gulu, shot in the air to stop him from getting away.
However, when Baguma continued to run, the soldier shot him in the back.
