Villa manager Micho names 21-year-old as main striker

By Norman Katende

ALEX ‘Trezeguet’ Isabirye will lead Villa’s attack in search of an early goal against Burundi’s Muzinga FC in Bujumbura.

Villa won the first leg 4-1 with Isabirye heading in the fourth, and this time round, his creativity and good finishing is likely to be the key to Villa’s booking a place against Angola’s Aviacao.

The inspirational striker’s name was among the sixteen released by Coach Micho Sredojevic after yesterday’s last training session.

However there was no place on the team for former captain Hakim Magumba, who has just recovered from a knee injury.

The team departs today morning by air for their Africa Champions League encounter set for Sunday.

“It was quite hard to name the final team. All the players here can play in two or more positions save for the goalkeepers.

“In case of emergency, we can utilise them and this is why they are on the team,” said Sredojevic in defence of the list at Villa Park last evening.

Sredojevic was however cautious but optimistic about the Bujumbura encounter.

“Last time, they were missing four of their national team stars who did not make it to Kampala but we are ready for anything. We are going to play good football, punish them so that they go out.”

Edgar Watson was named captain in the absence of Magumba. The midfielder had to undergo an operation on his troublesome right knee.

The squad: Posnet Omwony, Robert Mukasa, Godfrey Kateregga, Peter Makanga, Robert Tumusiime, Sam Mubiru, Timothy Batabaire, Emmanuel Balyejusa, Edgar Watson, Shaban Kisinga, Nestroy Kizito, Vincent Tendwa, Philip Ssozi, Alex Isabirye, Ekuchu Kasongo and Sula Walusimbi.
