I dare to say, DP is a dead party!

SIR— I am appalled by the ugly things unfolding in DP. First, it is said the Uganda Young Democrats (UYD), the DP youth wing, are in favour of Hajji Nasser Sebaggala as their favourite candidate!

By all standard, Sebaggala is tainted man. What do these youngsters see in Sebaggala? Is this the future of DP? Then it is indeed dead. Secondly, it can’t be by coincidence that all the people Ssemogerere wants to succeed him, if he is willing to retire, anyway, are Baganda.

Thirdly, the manner in which Mr Norbert Mao reacted to the Vice-President’s usual conduct leaves a lot to be desired as to what kind of leader he will be.

Lastly, the belief that DP is a party for Catholics is a fat misconception by many who hope to use it to win the sympathy of Catholics. DP ought to look beyond just Bugandaism and Catholicism, as well as make a painful sacrifice in choosing a rightful person with all the qualities of a good leader. As long as things remain the way they are, DP will remain dead.
