Bukenya VP, Kategaya, Bidandi dropped

Busiro North MP Prof. Gilbert Bukenya (extreem right) was yesterday named Vice President in a Cabinet reshuffle by President Yoweri Museveni.

Busiro North MP Prof. Gilbert Bukenya (extreem right) was yesterday named Vice President in a Cabinet reshuffle by President Yoweri Museveni.

Bukenya, 54, replaces Dr. Speciosa Wandira Kazibwe who resigned this week to go for further studies in the US.
Prime Minister Prof. Apollo Nsibambi retained his post.

Ministers dropped include; First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Eriya Kategaya, Local government minister Jaberi Bidandi Ssali, ethics and integrity minister Miria Matembe, state minister for security Muruli Mukasa and state minister for internal affairs Sarah Namusoke Kiyingi.

Kategaya, Bidandi and Matembe have all been outspoken against the proposed third term for a president.

Former Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jeje Odongo who has been on katebe (without deployment) is the new Environment state minister replacing Kezimbira Miyingo who moves to Internal Affairs as state minister.

Other new appointments include Kirunda Kivenjinja (Presidency), Prof. Tarsis Kabwegyere (Local government), Kabale Women Representative Hope Mwesigye (Parliamentary affairs), Prof. Semakula Kiwanuka (Luweero Triangle), Nshimye Sebuturo (Regional cooperation), and Pallisa Women MP Jennifer Namuyangu (State for Industry) Adolf Mwesigye (Vice Presidents office).

The new appointments are subject to parliamentary approval.
Bukenya will have to win approval of the whole House while the ministers will go through the appointment committee.

The House, currently in recess is due to resume early June.
The chairman of the parliamentary committee on Presidential and Foreign affairs Dr. Nsaba Buturo was named information minister replacing the late Basoga Nsadhu.

The reshuffle also saw the promotion of Col. Kahinda Otafire, a long time junior minister to the post of full Minister for Water, Lands and Environment.

The new appointments brings the total number of ministers to 67

Other cabinet ministers are Dr. Khiddu Makubya (Education and Sports), Syda Bumba (Energy and Mineral Development), Janat Mukwaya (Justice and Constitutional affairs), Bakoko Bakoru (Gender Labour and social development), Prof. Tarsis Kabwegyere (Local government), Prof. Edward Rugumayo (Tourism Trade and Industry), Col. Kahinda Otafiire (Water Lands and environment), Jim Muhwezi (Health), Crispus Kiyonga (Minister Without Portfolio) and Francis Ayume (Attorney General).

The State ministers are Betty Akech (Security), Nsaba Buturo (Information), Omwony Ojwok (Economic Monitoring), Tim Lwanga (Ethics and Integrity), Adolf Mwesigye (Office of the Vice President), Hope Mwesigye (Parliamentary Affairs), Aporu Amongin (Refugees and Disaster Preparedness)

Others are Peter Lokeris (Karamoja Development), Grace Akello (Northern Uganda Rehabilitation) and Prof. Semakula Kiwanuka (Luwero Triangle).

Others are; Kibirige Sebunya (Agriculture), Mary Mugyenyi (animal husbandry) Dr. Fabius Byaruhanga (fisheries), Namirembe Bitamazire (Primary Education), Wabudeya Beatrice (Higher Education), Okello Oryem (Sports) and Daudi Migereko (Energy).

Others are; Kamanda Bantaringaya (Mineral Development), Isaac Musumba (Planning), Sam Kutesa (Investments) and Peter Kasenene (Privatisation).
