FOUR students of St. Mary’s Minor Seminary Lacor out of the 44 abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels on May 11 were rescued in a battle in Koyo Lalogi Lapul sub-county, Aruu county in Pader district.

The two-hour battle was near the riverbank between Aswa and river Agago at Ochunga parish 24Km west of Pajule, the UPDF also killed two rebels, recovered one AK 47 rifle and eight magazines and two grenades and rescued about 12 captives.

The Rector of St. Mary’s Minor Seminary Lacor, Fr. Mathew Odong, said he had not got any information about the four students.

A UPDF foot patrol source in Pader district said the group, under the superior command of Lt. Colonel Onen Kamdulu, was found cooking at the riverbank.

“We killed two of them and recovered an assortments of ammunition,” the source said.

The UPDF officer in charge of operations in Pader, Captain Mukorogo, yesterday said the same group tried to raid Kitgum Matidi dispensary and the trading centre in search of food distributed by the WFP.
