KAWEMPE division residents are the poorest in Kampala district.
The division chairman, Nasser Kibirige Takuba, said this explained the high rate of ill social behaviour like prostitution, in the area.
He said this recently while closing a four-day Network of Uganda Researchers and Research Users (NURRU) workshop at Kolping House in Bwaise.
The meeting was to prepare NURRU for the Kawempe division poverty survey to start next month.
He said the survey would guide the division as it tackled the poverty and prostitution problems.
He urged NURRU to come up with practical recommendations that would encourage donor support to develop the area.
