TWO passengers died instantly and nine others sustained injuries when the omnibus they were travelling in collided with a truck head-on.

TWO passengers died instantly and nine others sustained injuries when the omnibus they were travelling in collided with a truck head-on.

The accident occurred recently at Jaruko-Namutumba on the Tirinyi highway when a Mbale-bound taxi UAE 759J collided with an Isuzu truck UAE 268U.

Iganga traffic boss Andrew Ejoyat said the dead were Maurine Mugabi, 10, and Ahmed Sabiti, 40, a security guard at Colline House, Kampala.

The injured included the advocacy officer of FIDA Uganda, Annet Ttendo, and Pirjo Karim, a co-ordinator of Melting Pot in Yjaskyla, Finland.

Others included Junior Mugizi and Anne Mahoro.

Ejoyat said some of the injured had been admitted in Mbale and Iganga hospitals.
