THE National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and the Jinja Municipal Council have agreed to enter into a joint venture for setting up development projects in the town.

Baswale Kezaala, the Jinja central division LC 3 chairman, told a council meeting on Wednesday that Mayor David Wakudumira would soon sign a memorandum of understanding with the NSSF management to seal the deal.

“Under the memorandum of understanding, we shall provide land while NSSF will provide funds for setting up development projects in our town,” he said.

Kezaala said leaders in the municipality had already identified undeveloped land in areas like the Source of the Nile, Mpumudde, and Walukuba estates.

He said some of the planned investments include building modern hotels especially at The Source of the Nile and other tourist attractions.

He said these would help in reviving Jinja's past glory as Uganda’s leading industrial town and favoured a tourist centre.
