OCEANIAN Island minnows Mauritius jet in Wednesday ahead of this Saturday’s crucial Nations Cup/World Cup qualifier against Cranes.
FUFA vice president (technical) John Baptist Semanobe disclosed that a 25-man contingent is expected and will be accommodated at Regency Hotel, Kampala.
Cranes tactician Leo Adraa will however have to gamble with the limited playing staff currently at his disposal for the qualifier that will be played at Nakivubo stadium.
With almost half the number that stunned Ghana last year absent, he will be forced to continue experimenting in the midfield and attack.
It’s now official that the Cranes will have to do without Meddie Nsubuga, Bana Zidane, Timothy Batabaire, Nestroy Kizito, Hakim Magumba, Phillip Ssozi, Fred Okello, Alex Isabirye and Ekuchu Kasongo.
“I have very few options at disposal. However the team and system I used in Accra in our final Nations Cup game would not differ a lot,†said Adraa.
The build up matches the Cranes played last week against local opposition left several questions unanswered.
At the back, Andrew Mwesigwa and Robert Kabanda did not compose as Cranes’ first choice defense partnership.
“I might as well have to look at Israel Emuge because of his credibility at the back,†he pointed.
In the absence of Ssozi and Magumba, Bajope and Watson could form a vital part for Adraa’s midfield.
The real crisis however lies in the attack where midfielder Henry Kabeta could be pushed to support lead striker Hassan Mubiru.
