THE Uganda Lady Cranes have been drawn against their nemesis South Africa in the Sevens Rugby World Cup that kicks of March 5 in Dubai.

The draw in Dubai yesterday placed Uganda in pool D together with South Africa that has thrice beaten the Ugandans in the last two years.

They beat Uganda in the Africa Championship final in 2007 and went on to triumph over the Cranes in the final of Africa World Cup qualifiers last year in Kampala. The Ugandans were also losers in the final of the Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens tournament in Port Elizabeth last month.

New Zealand and Italy complete the group D draw that left Lady Cranes coach, David Mutaka in fear.

“That’s the worst pool possible. To come out we have to work very, very hard,” Mutaka warned.

South African Norman Mbiko will coach the Lady Cranes before the World Cup. Two teams in each of the four groups will advance to the quarterfinals of the inaugural women’s sevens event.
