Three fish landing villages in Katunguru sub-county, Bunyaruguru in Bushenyi district have received safe piped water.
The villages are Kisenyi, Kazinga and Katunguru.

The safe water project worth $20,000 was started in 2004 by Fontes Foundation, a charity organisation.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony at Kisenyi landing site recently, the area MP, Gaude Tindamanyire, said water-borne diseases would be reduced.

At Kazinga landing site, the water taps were installed at Kazinga Primary School and Kazinga Health Centre. A tree planting project was also launched.

Lucrezia Koestler, a consultant with Fontes Foundation, said the water bodies at Queen Elizabeth National Park which people had been relying on were salty.

Koestler also added that the organisation had offered scholarships to six secondary school students from vulnerable families.

She said a similar project would be introduced at Kashaka landing site.
