HUNDREDS of Christians thronged Rubaga Miracle Centre for celebrated televangelist Benny Hinn’s crusade. Hinn jetted into the country on Friday. The theme of the conference, which ended on Saturday, was dubbed “fire conference”.

The $50 (115,000) entrance fee did not seem a big deal. By 7:00pm, guests had taken their seats.
Hinn’s host, Pastor Robert Kayanja, led them in a prayer and worship session as they awaited Hinn.

Dressed in a blue suit in the company of Kayanja, Hinn was welcomed with wild cheers from the crowd.

In attendance were numerous pastors from East and Central Africa.

Kayanja said, like other fire conferences, this one would feature a powerful move of the Holy Spirit, and the in-depth teaching of the Word of God.

He said the conference would focus on teaching leaders of born-again churches.

US-based Trinity Broadcasting Network, the world’s biggest religious television network, telecast the event live to the rest of the world.

Hinn was in Uganda for the first time in 2007. Born in 1952 in the port city of Jaffa (modern part of Tel Aviv), Israel, Hinn got saved in 1972, during his school time.

Currently he is the senior pastor of World Healing Church International based in Irving, Texas.

From Uganda, Hinn will travel to South Africa and later to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
