IF the dead in Soroti town were given a chance to see what happened last Saturday night, they would not believe that was the Soroti town they knew before they met their creator.

There was no leg room and people pushed themselves like animals being herded to an abattoir. This was at the Independence Square during the launch of Soroti-based artiste Paul Ikwap a.k.a Mark P’s album Eong.

The concert was free and the football field was full beyond capacity. The show which was expected to start at 5:00pm, began at 6:30pm because of a heavy downpour.

Rogga Rogga Crew did very well in warming up the crowd for the show with their hits like Anunyo and Wana Wona before Mr. OJ showed the crowed that disability is not inability with his songs Irena and Paco Wa. The reigning Eastern Artiste of the year, Chancy Twister, proved he deserved the title with his impressive musical skill. Other Teso-based artistes that did not disappoint were Blingzo, Still G, Gen Kayaman and Power Base Crew.

Kampala-based artistes Lady Aisha and Sarah Zawedde also thrilled the audience, but the climax of the show was when the man of the night, Mark P came onto the stage amidst smoke. He sent the crowd mad. The deafening cheers started immediately after the MC, Leila Kachapizo, announced his appearance at around 1:00am.

Humbled by the crowd, Mark P knelt down and thanked them for their support. He sang his old songs, including PAM Award winning Adusele, before turning to Eong.
