CENTENARY Bank staff have donated about 300 units of blood. Sylivia Zizinga, the general manager for business development and public relations, said the exercise was was aimed at supporting the National Blood Bank’s effort’s to prevent shortage of blood in the country.

Blood is needed to save the lives of accident victims, mothers who lose a lot of blood after giving birth, those who undergo surgery and anaemic patients, especially children. “The bank takes pride in giving back to the community in which we serve.

“This shows that the bank takes corporate social responsibility seriously.” “The bank is focused on achieving strong sustainable financial returns while promoting a decent, dignified and more kind society,” she said.

Meanwhile, Zizinga said the bank promotes banking and saving among the poor to help them save.

“We set low charges so that everyone can bank and save for a bright future. “However, we serve all people and all the sectors of the economy, including agriculture, trade, tourism, transport, the service industry.”

The two-day exercise at the Entebbe Road branch was organised together with the Uganda Red Cross Society. About 200,000 units of blood are needed annually.
