People suspected of mismanaging the national agricultural advisory services (NAADS) and other Government funds will be arrested and charged.

Addressing the press at Lira Police station on Friday, the acting commissioner of the anti-corruption squad, John Steven Otim, said the Police are investigating fraud in NAADS and other government sectors.

Otim also gave details of the five officials who were charged over alleged corruption, abuse of office and conspiracy to swindle Government funds.

John Okolimo, Richard Adoko, Moses Epila, Francis Okello and Dr. Bernard Otim, all district officials, are currently jailed at Lira prison.

“This is just the beginning. More people will be arrested and charged,” Otim said.

He added that the Police would extend their investigations to other districts.

Two weeks ago, 14 officials and a man who impersonated a Police officer, were arrested in Apac district. Five officials were also arrested in Oyam district.

Otim appealed to the residents to continue helping the Police to arrest people implicated in mismanaging Government funds.

Lira Police commander Raymond Otim said they were working with the anti-corruption unit to ensure a successful fight against corruption.
