Vision readers win sh20m in Cashlines

A Hoima farmer and a student of Makerere University Business School have been playing The New Vision cashlines game since 2006 when it started.

Their efforts were paid off on Wednesday when they emerged part of the winners of the sh12.2m of this year’s grand draw.

Julius Kiiza and Josephine Kanyonza, a third-year student of tourism management, received sh100,000 each.

Another 106 participants across the country pocketed sh100,000 each.

Teopista Mugabi, a Namasuba-based poultry farmer and Andrew Imalingat, a Police accountant, took sh1m and sh500,000 respectively.

The game, meant to reward readers, ran from September 18 to October 21.

Over 90 readers won sh7.8m, leaving the sh12.2m that was shared among 109 participants in the grand draw.

Handing over the cash on Friday, the sales and marketing manager, Tony Glencross, commended readers who took part in the game for giving the company a chance to reward them.

The ceremony was held at The New Vision headquarters in Kampala. He said this year’s game recorded more winners compared to the previous ones.

“As Vision team, we appreciate interacting with our readers,” Glencross said, adding that it was paramount for readers to receive cash awards to facilitate them during the forthcoming festive season.

The winners noted that the game was hard, but commended its fairness.

Besides cash, the game promotes the reading culture among Ugandans, they said.

“The game is unique. No winning number resembles another,” said Stephen Mitabiro Rutaro, an estates manager of Nakawa Vocational and Training Institute, who won sh100,000.

The winners applauded other Vision Group’s publications, especially Bukedde TV, saying it was educative and entertaining.
