A retired colonel of the UPDF, Fred Mwesigye, has declared his candidature to contest for the Nyabushozi county parliamentary seat.

Mwesigye, the current managing director of the National Enterprises Cooperation, a Ministry of defence firm, convened a meeting last week at the Nommo Gallery in Kampala during which he announced his plan to contest for the seat. In 2006, Mwesigye unsuccessfully contested for the seat against Mary Mugyenyi.

During the meeting attended by people from Nyabushozi on Tuesday night, Mwesigye said: “I am declaring that I will contest for the Nyabushozi constituency seat in 2011.”

Present at the meeting was the current area MP, Mugyenyi who declared her intention not to contest in the coming elections.
