THE British High Commission yesterday said its visa services had not been moved to Kenya.

“The British High Commission wishes to confirm that there is no change to the range of UK visa services available in Uganda and the British High Commission will continue to offer a high quality visa service,” the High Commission said in a statement yesterday.

The embassy said visa applicants would continue to be served at the UK Visa Application Centre VFS – Uganda located on Communications House in Kampala.

The media yesterday said the embassy had moved its visa services for Ugandans to Nairobi.
The reports claimed that the changes were related to the need to better manage data on travel and residence in the UK.

It reported that from February 9, all visa applications would be sent by courier from Kampala to Nairobi and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Up to 10,000 visa applications were sought in 2007 of which 30% were reportedly denied.

Almost a year ago, the UK introduced a 10-year ban on persons who gave false documentation.

One of the more abused processes is illegally presenting the bank statement of another person.
