Local councillors recently passed the district budget of about sh11b for the financial year 2007/08.
During a council meeting at St. Mary’s Lacor Minor Seminary, the secretary for finance, Patrick Okello Oryema said they expect to receive about sh8b in form of grants from the central government. The money will be spent on paying salaries and capital development.
He said sh2.7b is expected to come from donors and other development partners and sh85.5m from local revenue.
Oryema said during the last financial year, the district budgeted for about sh10b, but sh8b was realised.
However, about sh7b was used because the district operated under very difficult circumstances.
The LC5 chairman, Anthony Louis Omach Atube, the resident district commissioner, Lt. James Oyo, the chief administrative officer Seraphin Allia and the heads of departments attended the meeting.
