SOCCER governing body FUFA will support the Tanzania football president, Leodegar Tenga, for the CECAFA presidency. The other candidates are Kamal Shadad (Sudan) and Ashebir Giorgis (Ethiopia).

FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa said Uganda wanted to extend her East African Community friendship beyond politics. He added that Tenga’s victory was healthy for Uganda’s football.

“If we want to fight any injustices against East African soccer, we must unite,” said Mulindwa fresh from Cairo for a CAF meeting yesterday. “We (East Africans) have been victims of unfair decisions. We also want a right share of the CAF cake,” he added.
Out-going regional boss Denis Obua, welcomed the idea saying it will strengthen regional relationship.

“Though it’s going to be a tight race, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania must unite and this is what I have been advocating for because united we stand; divided we fall,” the legend said.

Meantime, FUFA is to combine the committees for youth, technical and marketing into one.

Mulindwa said the move will focus on accelerating soccer development from youth structures.
