EDITOR—I write in reaction to Richard Todwong’s rebuttal, “Mao, you have most of the answers to Gulu’s problems” published on Tuesday. Todwong appears objective in his opinion until he wilfully decides to remind us of President Milton Obote’s government that forced many people in West Nile to flee to Sudan and Congo.

Todwong seems to ignore the fact that it is during the NRM’s administration that we have experienced massive movement of Ugandans, especially the Langi and Acholi out of the country!

Todwong’s preference to live in the past is one of the biggest causes of leadership failure in Uganda since we tend to rubbish past leaders’ efforts without examining our present condition.

We should live in the present if we are to ensure a good future for our children and grandchildren.
