ALTHOUGH it’s undesirable, it happens to us. One time, your employer can call you and terminate your services. What do you do? Here are a few tips to help you cope.

Update your resume.

Always have an updated resume. If you have worked at your current job for more than a year, then you must have updated your resume. It is tiresome to update your CV while while dealing with the emotions of having lost a job. If you need help writing or updating a resume, please get it.

Inform your contacts.
Some individuals are natural networkers and great at building relationships, other are not. You should keep a list of contacts you would reach out to if you were in need of a job. This list should include not only those that may hire you, but also those that can spread the word and keep a look- out for job opportunities.

Identify job opportunities.
There are still companies and industries recruiting and the papers are full of job advertisements. Apply where appropriate depending on your experience and field of work.

Read a book: If you haven’t read a book like Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, then do it. This includes other books.

Prepare an emergency fund.
We should always have an emergency fund. Determine the steps you should take to raise money and reduce spending. Would you sell one or more cars? What monthly expenses would you get rid of? What changes would you make to your lifestyle to reduce spending on unnecessary activities? Thinking about these issues.

Boost your personal development.
Attend seminars, join master mind groups and look at all other possible means of making you more valuable either from an employee point of view or an employer.

Remember, life is a journey. Enjoy it and live with a purpose.
