NALUBAALE FC fans stormed FUFA House in Mengo yesterday demanding that the Buikwe side be reinstated in the Uganda Super League due to kick off on Sept. 19.

Mukono FUFA delegate Joseph Mwanje and 60-year-old Pisona Gemeisa were among the fans who arrived at the football headquarters shortly after 11am chanting their frustration with the dismissal of the club.

The handful of fans came wearing sandals while carrying the club flags and placards inscribed with protest messages.

One message read, “give us our team. We need our Nalubaale FC in the super league.”

FUFA chief executive Edgar Watson had just addressed the weekly PostBank press briefing. He insisted that FUFA was unlikely to reverse its decision on Nalubaale.

FUFA dismissed Nalubaale from the league Monday arguing the club no longer met FUFA competitions standards.

FUFA cited sh38.5m players and coaches’ accumulated salary arrears for eight months as one of the reasons.

Watson said FUFA’s player status committee had taken up the case to ensure that the affected players were given justice.

He said the executive had decided to maintain 17 teams in the 2009/2010 super league because Mbarara United earlier sought to replace Nalubaale ‘would challenge the integrity of the league if brought back.’

The fans walked away after a brief meeting with Old Kampala police commander Siraje Kibaleka.

* The Ex-internationals association has appointed Fred Kateregga and Isaac Mukasa as their publicist and deputy respectively.

The executive has Ashe Mukasa, chairman, Godfrey Nyola, vice, Patrick Ntege, secretary, Jackson Mayanja treasurer and Phillip Obwiny as his assistant.
