LEADERS of the Kampala Club Panathlon international chapter have been asked to fight drug use and promote values that generate fair-play.

The call was made by the Panathlon International president Enrico Prandi at the launch of the Uganda Chapter at Imperial Royale Hotel on Thursday night.

Omara Apitta is the president of the Uganda Panathlon chapter with Jasper Aligawesa as the secretary.

Apitta heads a board that has 19 members from leading sports associations and the press.

“Let us remember to fight for the values that bring about fair play and excellence in sports as we create an atmosphere of friendship and solidarity,” Prandi said.

Panathlon, recognized by the International Olympic Solidarity and over 25 international federations and associations, seeks to promote high moral behaviour and discipline among sports figures.

The Uganda chapter is the second in Africa after the one in Ivory Coast. There are 45 chapters in the world for the organisation founded in Italy.

Members of the Uganda board are: Board J. Aligawesa, W. Blick, O. Apitta, L. Jadwong, J. Kibuuka Musoke, A. Blick, A. Tashobya, K. Kabenge, T. Kiggundu, R. Kisolo, C. Mugisha, I. Mugowa, L. Mukasa, E. Okira, K. Sebbaale, O. Ssemweya, L. senyange, P. Kabenge and E. Watson.
