PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has urged Muslim leaders in the country to use the holy month of Ramadhan to seek Allah’s wisdom and guidance to resolve their differences in a peaceful and lawful manner.

The call was contained in Museveni’s congratulatory message to the Muslim community in Uganda regarding the Ramadhan.

In the message, Museveni said: “On behalf of the Government and on my own behalf, I congratulate the Muslims for commencing the holy month of Ramadhan — the month of abundant blessings, and atonement and forgiveness of our sins by the almighty, benevolent and gracious Allah.

“My understanding is that Ramadhan is a special period of self-restraint dedicated to a more intense search for the purity of our souls. Fasting demands self- restraint, which requires a high degree of sincerity and faithfulness. It enhances the spirit of solidarity among the Muslims all over the world.

“I strongly believe that Allah wants us to be spiritually rich and materially prosperous. Ugandans have a duty to work hard and ensure that we build this beautiful country ‘gifted by nature’ into a prosperous nation and to ensure our harmonious co-existence.

“I take this opportunity to urge Muslim leaders to use this holy month to seek Allah’s wisdom and guidance to resolve their differences in a peaceful and lawful manner. May the Merciful Allah bless you all,” the message concluded.
Muslims started observing the Ramadhan on August 22.
