REFEREES Fred Mufta and Brian Nsubuga’s investment in flying to Seychelles paid off as they both passed the FIFA Cooper test, after failing the Ugandan fitness test last week.

The referees, who had passed the 60m sprints during the Namboole trials last Tuesday but failed the 10-lap 150km run and 50m walk endurance test, were granted a second chance by FIFA referees fitness instructor Carlos Henriks.

The two Ugandan referees blamed their initial failure on fatigue and decided to fly to Seychelles for a second chance on Monday.

“They have both passed. That is good for Uganda,” said referees standing committee secretary Yusuf Kamulegeya yesterday.
