MANY schools are opening for the first term. As parents, who have been saving and foregoing many luxuries, are rushing to banks to pay school fees, conmen are devising tricks to catch them. Posing as bank officials, and standing in corridors and sometimes banking halls, they promise to help parents beat the long queues.

As soon as a gullible parent or students hands over the money, they disappear-not to be seen again. It is then that one realises that they have been conned. Many parents and students have been conned in the past, according to the Police.

Additionally, some students do not bank the money but present forged bank slips.

TIPS
1-Parents should bank the money, not children, who are easily distracted
2-Use the electronic funds transfer (EFT) system rather than carrying cash to the bank

3-Bank officials should have tags and banners around their chests so that clients are not fooled

4-Endure the queues-(a trait lacking among Ugandans). However long they are, you will be served. Waking up early is a good trick.
