STATE minister for investment Semakula Kiwanuka has urged political leaders in eastern Uganda to address development constraints like land availability in order to attract investors to the region.

Joseph Wanzusi writes that Semakula advised the politicians to unite and lobby the Government to start development projects in their areas.

He cited the controversy surrounding the proposed Malaba Inland Port, which stalled because of in-fighting between the politicians.

Semakula was recently speaking at a workshop organised by the Uganda Investment Authority at Mt. Elgon Hotel in Mbale town.

Closing the workshop that attracted chief administrative officers, resident district commissioners and private sector members from 24 districts, the Mbale RDC Paul Lubowa, said setting up infrastructure to attract investors was a responsibility for the local and central governments.
