KYAMBOGO University’s Amina Lukaya and Fotogenix’s Jackson Migadde took the men and women honours in the Makerere University Table Tennis open, which climaxed Sunday at Africa Hall.

Lukaya, coming back after a one-year lay off due to academics, needed a decisive set to down Mbale Tigers’ Regina Nakibule and qualify for the final.

She then recovered from a set down 16-14, to take the next three sets 11-5 11-8 11-7 and lift the women’s title in the Fotogenix and Coca Cola sponsored event.

Ronald Nyaika stunned veteran Paul Mutambuze in straight sets in the semi-finals of the men’s singles but fell to Migadde 11-9, 11-9, 12-10.

Nyaika got a consolation when he beat Daniel Kajubi 3-1 to take the boys title, while Rita Nekesa took the girls title after beating new entrant Zura Kauka 3-1.
